Recreational Dance Deadline
Open to both boys and girls, instructed by Emily Beelen, this recreational dance program will offer fun and fitness in an informal, recreational setting. Proper technique will be taught. There will be no exams or competitions. The last class will have an opportunity for parents to view their young dancer’s achievements. Classes are held upstairs in the Portland Community Hall. Dancers need not have traditional dance shoes, but should wear running shoes or be prepared to dance in bare feet. Dancers should wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.
Parents are encouraged to drop your children off 5 minutes prior to the start of their class and pick them up at the exact time class ends. Parents may wait in the downstairs portion of the community hall if they so desire.
Participants may be asked to purchase a Rideau Lakes Dance shirt prior to their last class to be worn for the “recital”.
To register your child please fill out the registration form found in the Spring and Summer Leisure Services Brochure, online here or at the Municipal Offices in Chantry and mail it along with the appropriate registration fees to the Township Offices by April 5th.

The Old Stone Mill NHS will be open for tours from 9 am to 3 pm during Delta’s Maple Syrup Festival. A used Book Sale will take place in the Old Town Hall on Saturday and Sunday, light refreshments will be available. Milling and blacksmithing demonstrations will take place on Saturday, starting at 1 pm. Many other activities taking place in Delta.

Community Shopping bus sponsored through the Portland Seniors Club leaves for the local shopping mall in Kingston every 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Euchre is played in the Elgin Municipal Complex Community Room (Linda Barker 613-272-2533), the South Elmsley Community Hall (Dorothy Covell at 613-283-2572) and North Crosby Community Hall (6 hand) (Jim Mullville 613-273-3008) and in Delta at the Legion every Friday at 7pm (Pat Philips 2712).
Spaghetti Dinners 1st Friday of every month at the Portland Legion; 2nd Friday at the Elgin Lions Hall and also combine their very popular Quiz Night with the spaghetti dinner (teams of 6 start the game at 7pm) and the 3rd Friday is at the Westport (North Crosby) Legion.
SPRING DANCE. APRIL 30 – SPRING DANCE with Shylo, sponsored by the Elgin Lions Club from 8 pm to midnight.Contact a Lions member for tickets! Spring dance will be held on April 30 from 8 am to 12 pm.
PITCH IN WEEK – Pitch-in & help clean up roadsides, parks, school yards & shorelines. Pick up your free pitch in (yellow) bags at the Municipal Office, Post Offices & libraries.
