What’s cooking in Westport

Cook together in the community kitchen on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month! What’s Cooking in Westport is on the 1st Tuesday each month (10am-1pm) at the Free Methodist Church! Learn new skills, take home food. Childcare is available.

Join us to try new foods and recipes, share a meal, bring extras home, have a good time, and meet new people in your community. We pick the recipes together, focusing on local, seasonal, budget-friendly ingredients. Some months we have a specific cultural theme, a guest speaker from the community, or a special event.

The group is facilitated by Registered Dietitian, Kate Earl, from Country Roads Community Health Centre. We discuss different nutrition and food safety topics each month and members share healthy eating tips with each other.

The program is FREE. There is no cost to participate. We also offer free childcare. Please ask us if you need help with travel costs. All we ask from you is that you participate in the cooking (and clean up!), come ready to have fun, and be open to trying new foods.

Jessica Rhaye & the Ramshackle Parade at the Cove Inn

Just like a Woman – Songs of Bob Dylan is Jessica Rhaye’s sixth full-length album, and first with backing band The Ramshackle Parade. This rollicking folk-rock interpretation of Dylan’s classics and hidden gems transcends the concept of a simple tribute album. The result is a fun folk-rock album with psychedelic undertones, with folkie ballads, a conversation between rockabilly and swing, and engaging new interpretations of the Master’s works.

Just Like a Woman captures a hot mix of professionals performing live together – no click tracks and very few overdubs – true to the recording style of Dylan’s earlier work. With producer and multi-musician Dale Murray at the helm, it was free flow. All band members brought ideas to the floor. They imagined working in the style of Dylan in Woodstock, the days of the Basement Tapes and Big Pink, in the wake of the motorcycle crash.

The result is a fun folk-rock album with psychedelic undertones, with folkie ballads, a conversation between rockabilly and swing, and engaging new interpretations of the Master’s works.

$20.
