James King is a singer/songwriter, and all  around performer from North Augusta, ON. His style has been described as “Rock n Roll Troubadour” and due to his unique vocal sound, which emulates many of the classic rock vocalists of the 70s, he has performed his original music across Canada. While living in Toronto, His band “James King & the Midnight Hours” held a year-long residency at the Amsterdam Bicycle Club, before branching out to play many of the famous rock venues throughout the city. In 2018 they made the National Top 100 in CBC’s Searchlight Contest, out of 2,072 artists from across Canada.

In 2020,  the band recorded their full length debut album “Moonchild” with Juno nominated producer Alex Gamble at Union Sound. It was released in 2022 and is now available on all streaming platforms. Since returning home to the Brockville area in 2021, James can be found gigging solo all over the countryside, while working on a new record.

Come every sunday to hear Meghan Balogh and Eric Uren as they return to playing their ethereal acoustic folk sounds of fiddle and guitar from 5-8pm.

Meghan Balogh spent years studying classical piano and violin before delving into the world of Irish fiddle music. She grew up immersed in folk music, and currently plays fiddle and sings as a member of bands in Kingston and Prince Edward County including Seventh Town, The Gertrudes and No Great Mischief. She can be found playing for Irish ceili dances around eastern Ontario with the Seventh Town Ceili Band (https://seventhtown.ca/ceili-band), and as a fixture with Kingston’s Irish session.

Eric Uren has been performing in clubs and pubs across Canada and Europe for over 25 years. His straightforward, honest delivery of well-known songs by artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and Steve Earle connect with audiences of all ages. He is a warm and personable performer who excels at creating a friendly, social atmosphere wherever he takes the stage. Eric and Meghan have also recently been collaborating with Hollywood comedian Tom Green in his band as they back him on select dates.

Al Lerman is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and leader of the two-time Juno Award winning (Canada’s Grammy) band FATHEAD. Outside of the band, he has built a solid career touring as an acoustic solo blues/roots artist, accompanying himself on guitar and rack harmonica. He has released two critically acclaimed solo discs to date. A pro musician for over forty years, he occasionally works as a guest sideman, recording and touring with a myriad of top-notch bands.

Shawn McCullough is a Master guitar player/singer/alternative lyricist/showman/songwriter. He has played and toured with Canadian Country star Jason McCoy (The Roadhammers) and has been a part of Telecaster supergroup The Telebastards featuring Steve Piticco, Country Pickin’ Mayhem Band with 2 x 7 time CCMA Guitarists of the Year, Wendell Ferguson and Steve Piticco, as well as a member of DoubleBack with Wade Foster and John Wilberforce. He is highly in demand as a session musician and sideman for his incredible skill, wit and stage presence. He has a solo record to his name “This is Me” and is currently performing with rising CMAO and CCMA nominated Country star Brea Lawrenson!  His latest accomplishments are a series of singles released on Apple Music and Spotify getting lots of airplay on Country Music Radio. The Westport Arts Council invited 5 incredibly talented local artists to showcase their creativity by painting unique, one-of-a-kind Muskoka chairs.  The theme for this year’s artists, ‘Music of Westport’; a concept rich with interpretative possibilities.

The chairs were revealed on Canada Day at the breakfast in the village of Westport, but check them out at The Cove Country Inn, Rosie Yumski’s Fine Foods, Supernatural Hair Boutique, Pinecone and Westport Fine Meats.  Something new for 2024 is that one of these beautiful masterpieces will ONLY be available online.  A live Facebook auction will start at 8 am Monday August 5th and run until Sunday August 12th at noon.  The chair goes to the highest bidder!

Tickets for the remaining 4 chairs will be available for the incredibly low price of $5 each or $20 for 5 tickets. Tickets will be sold in the village of Westport starting at 10am Saturdays all summer until the draw to be held at MUSICwestport on Saturday August 17th, 2024. Come find us at the corner of Spring Street and Church Street, where the chairs will be on display.  You can always purchase tickets at the participating businesses as well.
