Mediterranean Wine Dinner Apr.17 @ The Cove!

We are so excited to announce that we are planning yet another in our series of seasonal Wine Dinners at The Cove. As many of you know, we have been hosting them for many years now and all have been wildly popular! Since Chef Joanne has left The Cove, we have been experiencing a successful transition to the new kitchen team co-led by Chef Sarah Brown. Mediterranean Food and Wine Dinner

Enjoy an evening of sun kissed food and wine inspired by the countries surrounding the Mediterranean with some local flare and products as well! The olive groves, serene ocean scapes, warm spicy reds, lush whites and of course the fresh, flavorful cuisine. It’s a dreamy place. Come and celebrate the coming of warm weather. Tom Watson at the Cove Inn!

 

Based On Wonder (Tom) grew up in a small town in Ontario and started playing the guitar in 1997. In high school he began writing his own music and making live performances at coffee houses and pub’s. Writing and recording all of his own instruments, Tom became well versed with recording programs and has been experimenting with his music ever since.

2012 marks the first time Based On Wonder will be available digitally.

WINGS ‘n TUNES with SHAWN McCULLOUGH

 

Guitar player/singer/alternative lyricist Shawn McCullough helps you break up your week and give you a little social fix. Shawn has played and toured with Canadian Country star Jason McCoy (The Roadhammers) and has been a part of Telecaster supergroup The Telebastards featuring Steve Piticco, as well as a member of DoubleBack with Wade Foster and John Wilberforce. He is highly in demand as a session musician and sideman for his incredible skill, wit and stage presence. He has a solo record to his name “This is Me” and is currently performing with rising Country star Brea Lawrenson.

Sin and Swoon at the Cove Inn!

 

Montreal’s “Sin and Swoon” is made up of Ottawa Valley native Michael James O’Brien and Antigonish, Nova Scotia’s Michelle Tompkins. They love George and Tammy, old time country music, and the harmony singing of the Louvin Brothers and the Delmore Brothers. Recently featured on “The Vinyl Cafe´ with Stuart Maclean” on CBC radio and NPR, their new album is now available!

Singer-songwriters Mike O’Brien and Michelle Tompkins have been performing together for the last few years, after the couple’s post-dinner-table-song-swaps led to the odd pub gig to help make ends meet. Songs were written, and the culmination of the last couple years of work has led to the release of their first record “Did I Turn The Oven Off?”

Both have been busy as backup singers/musicians on the Montreal local scene, lending a hand to such notables as Patrick Watson, The Barr Brothers, Plants and Animals, Blood and Glass, Katie Moore, and Thus:Owls. Mike O’Brien was also a guitar player on the last two Vic Chesnutt tours. Now with the release of their new record, their plans are to get out and play as much as possible.

Vancouver’s Harpdog Brown has won the Maple Blues Award for Best Harmonica Player the past 2 years running. He plays “Old School” Blues – vintage ‘40’s and ‘50’s “lo-fi” – with his great deep voice and harp backed by Jordan Edmonds playing great guitar and Pat Darcus on upright bass. They’re joined for this show by Sugar Brown – another “real deal” Bluesman – on guitar.

Never afraid to put his music and performance out there for all to see and critique, Jeff has won and placed honorably in contests all over North America – both for his performance and songwriting.

In 1999 Jeff won the New York State Title for the True Value Home Hardware Country Star Search. In 2007, Jeff won the New York State Title for the Colgate Country Showdown and placed respectably in the National Semi-Finals of that same contest in West Virginia.

In 2008, Jeff had his first single cut as a songwriter by a finalist of the famed “Idol” franchise and it was included on her debut album – Tara Oram’s Chasing the Sun – Canadian Idol finalist.

When asked about his music, he says he likes to think of it somewhere between James Taylor, John Mellancamp and Canadian hit band Blue Rodeo.
