Artemisia is now offering a full selection of painting, drawing and craft classes throughout the summer!

Each class is independent of all the others, so if you only have one morning or evening, come on down and learn something new. Both Bonnie and Georgia are artists and have studied art most of their lives. Whether you are looking for a new art or craft skill, come out to Artemisia and have fun with us!

Class Schedule:
Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 10am – 12pm AND 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Thursdays: 10am to 12pm

Bonnie and Georgia will be teaching you to draw and paint in classes that are limited to 4 participants who will be able to stay until closing time to complete work learned in the class.

*It’s our anniversary!*

June 21 – Summer Solstice – and the beginning of our fourth year here at Artemisia (7 Spring Street, Westport, ON)! We will be celebrating the whole week with specials in the gallery and art services, including prizes, scratch and win tickets and more.

On June 21, 2011, from 2 to 5 pm, we have a very special guest, “Fred Barrett”, a local astronomer,has been invited to share with you his knowledge, photographs and a very special look through his telescope to view some amazing pictures of our sun. This is a very important part of our world, but one we tend to take
for granted. So come on over to “Artemisia” and see for yourself what is going on up there, 93 million miles away! WOW! Fred will answer your questions and display photos and inform us about the sun — how it affects our weather, what sun spots and flares are and how they are related to the aurora borealis, which once seen will never cease to amaze.

We are all glad it’s officially summer, so come out and celebrate!

Attention art and craft lovers! Seven members of the Land O’Lakes Artisan Guild (LOLAG) will be having an exhibit of their works at the Artemisia Gallery in Westport.

Included in the show are Lynn Shwadchuck, (painting and fibre), Suzanne Clarke (textiles), Johanna Jansen (ceramics), Jen White, Jochen Mueller and Elaine Farragher (paintings), and Julie Druker (mixed media). The show will run from Friday May 20 until Monday May 23, 2011. Hours are Friday 12pm – 5pm and the weekend from 10am – 5pm. Individual members of the guild will be present to discuss their work. This is great opportunity to visit the lovely town of Westport as well as a chance to support your local artisans. The gallery is located in downtown Westport at 7 Spring Street.
