Located in the heart of Westport, Ontario, Foley House sits on
2.5 acres on the shores of the Upper Rideau Lake, part of the
historic Rideau Canal waterway. This Grand Victorian era home
was built by Declan Finbar Foley in 1867, the year of Canadian
Confederation.
The spacious bedrooms are located on the second floor of the
Inn and feature air conditioning, 3 or 4 piece ensuites (some
with claw-foot tubs), period furniture, original pine floors
and fine linens.
The main floor contains the parlour with original 1867
wallpaper and historical artifacts given to Declan by Canada's
first Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald - who was a
frequent guest at Foley House. Relax in the solarium or on the
patio, shaded by a 150 year-old chestnut tree, or go for a
stroll on the grounds - all offer spectacular lake views.
Foley House Pub is located right next door in the original
mercantile shop. Enjoy fantastic meals, watch the game and
choose from a wide range of beverages while sitting at the
distinctive counter from 1867 or enjoy the wonderful
waterfront patio. |
