Write On!

If you’ve ever wondered how writers write, or if you are a writer yourself, you’ll perk up your ears when you hear what’s happening this weekend.
On Saturday, Nov. 7, three well-established authors will hold a workshop at Knox Presbyterian Church, Westport.
Nicki Thacker, Bob Sutherland and Penelope Williams will discuss the art of writing and give valuable tips. The workshop, called “Writers on Writing”, will go from 2 until 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Westport to Uganda

It will be a profoundly important evening in Westport on Nov. 7 when musical groups, live and silent auctions will raise funds for HIV/AIDS awareness. “Westport to Uganda” at The Cove Country Inn will feature music by “Romeria” and “String Tease”. Proceeds will go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. For more information or to donate items for the auctions, call Chuck or Carolyn, 613-273-8249; or Isidora, 613-273-3359.

Bazaar time!

It must be getting close to Christmas. There are two bazaars coming up in the area. The first one is at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Sat., Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will have bake tables as well as jams, preserves, and crafts. A lunch of soup, sandwich, dessert and beverage will be served, all for $8.

There will be another bazaar at North Crosby Hall on Sat. Nov. 14, sponsored by the United Church’s Rideau Pastoral Charge. The bazaar will begin at 10:30 a.m. and go until 2 p.m. with craft, bake and white elephant tables and a silent auction. There will be a soup-sandwhich-and-dessert lunch, too. Cost is $8.

Fill that November tummy

If grey November days make you hungry, you’ll be happy to know about the full-course roast beef dinner with vegetables and dessert at North Crosby Community Hall on Nov. 15. It’s a big Harvest Supper for only $15. Many people are expected, so there will be two seatings: one from 4 to 5:15 p.m. and one from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
